SAINT-CHÉLY-DU-TARN – LE CIRQUE DES BAUMES

Come and discover the Tarn Gorges on a 17-kilometer trail between Saint-Chély-du-Tarn and the Cirque des Baumes. The Cirque des Baumes takes its name from the "baumes" (from the Occitan word "baumas," meaning caves) carved out by erosion and wind. The Cirque des Baumes is an ideal spot for a discovery hike in the heart of the Tarn Gorges. Located below the Point Sublime, offering a truly exceptional 360-degree panorama, the Cirque des Baumes allows you to explore cliffs where hundreds of birds nest, and discover an exceptional heritage with chapels, ruin-like rock formations, and also "baumes," or caves. The Cirque des Baumes runs along the Tarn's waterfront, a popular spot for outdoor activities, particularly rock climbing. In spring, you can observe the famous wild orchids, including the renowned lady's slipper orchids, which are very rare in France.

Bring: Sunscreen, hat, drink, bath towel, swimsuit and water shoes.
