DARGILAN SUR LE CAUSSE NOIR (COTATION BLEU)

The hamlet of Dargilan, gave its name to the cave located below the village and overlooking the Gorges de la Jonte. It was discovered by a shepherd in 1880 and fully explored by Edouard-Alfred Martel in 1888. This cavity is exceptional in its size, its diversity and the quality of its concretions. You will also discover the forests of Sylvestre pine, dominant essence on the causse Noir, that the Romans exploited for its resin. The Causse Noir straddles three departments (Lozère, Gard and Aveyron).
